Employee spotlight – Keerthana Dilli Babu

Keerthana has been working in GIS for just over a year and is part of the GL team in Ghent. After four years in Belgium, she has found her place in a dynamic environment where GIS and finance come together, offering constant challenge and growth. We asked her a few questions about her journey, her experiences at GIS, and what drives her every day. Here’s what she had to share.

Can you introduce yourself?

Hi, I’m Keerthana! I’ve been working in GIS for just over a year now, and I’m proud to be part of the GL team here in Ghent. This marks my fourth year living in Belgium, and it’s been an incredible journey of both personal and professional growth. I’ve truly enjoyed exploring the intersection of GIS and finance, it’s been both challenging, exciting and rewarding.

On a personal note, this year has been especially unforgettable. I got married to my boyfriend, yay! 2025 has been filled with  big milestones, and I’m grateful for every moment of it.

How did you end up in GIS?

I was looking for a dynamic, fast-paced growing environment that would challenge me, and GIS seemed like the fit. When I came across an opening on LinkedIn, it felt exactly what I was looking for in terms of career growth and opportunities. I applied, and thankfully, it turned out to be the right move for me. I’m incredibly happy to be in this field!

Are there any fun or special memories you’d like to share from when you joined GIS?

One of my favorite memories has to be our Spring Bike trip through nature. It was an amazing experience, surrounded by the beauty of nature while spending time with the team. The day was full of team bonding, stunning views, and lots of laughs. It’s one of those memories I’ll always cherish. There have also been countless memorable moments around the lunch table, where we share stories, laughs, and some great insights!

What is your motto? What brings you joy in life?

My motto is: “Growth through challenge.” I believe that challenges are what shape us both personally and professionally. Every obstacle is an opportunity to learn, grow, and become better. That sense of progress, improvement, and discovery is what brings me the most joy in life. It keeps everything exciting and motivates me!

Who or what inspires you, and why?

I find inspiration in people who are deeply passionate and dedicated to what they do. Whether in their careers, personal development, or hobbies. That level of commitment is incredibly motivating to me. If I had to pick one person who inspires me the most, it would be my mother. She’s been in the finance field for over 30 years, and her unwavering passion and dedication to her work are a constant source of inspiration. Despite facing personal challenges, she has remained one of the strongest, most resilient people I know. Her work ethic, strength, and perseverance remind me every day that with hard work and heart, anything is possible.
